Sepici family has started its tanning business by tanning sole leather in 1930 in city of Izmir. In tıme, Sepiciler increased its production to a larger scale and moved to its current location at Torbali in 1974. With the growing need of better technology and a wider capacity, Sepiciler added bovine and sole tanneries to its facilities in 1989. Starting with the third generation and involving in with academic partners in the cooperation, Sepiciler introduced itself to global markets. Since then, we continue our operations at our current tannery, which is a 400,000 square foot, state-of-the-art, environmentally-conscious facility.

 Our leather campus contains chrome, vegetable and sole tanneries. We take great pride in producing leathers of incomparable quality and beauty. We focus on the principles of customer satisfaction as well as having respect for the environment and social responsibility. We carry in our progress by performing researches to find solutions,  carry trend and fashion to our customers by adopting the total quality management.

 Sepiciler production campus includes tanneries capable of tanning 10.000 tons of hides annually. Our production encompasses goods for footwear, leathergoods, bags, belts, upholstery, saddlery and apparel.

Chrome Tannery of our factory includes two separate tanning facilities which process top-grade European and domestic hides carefully selected for quality and consistency according to ISO - 9000 standards. Our specialty in bovine is that we are able to process  all kinds of  leather articles according to customer’s demands, including automotive and orthopedic  ındustries.

Sole Leather Tannery has established in 1989. We started our pit and drum tanning process lasting over a period of 4 weeks ensure a uniform crust and a fine natural color which is further enhanced by our re-tanning process. We use only the finest tanning ingredients and proprietary tanning formulas which have been developed to produce exquisite sole leathers.

Vegetable Tannery started operating in 1995, targeting to produce the highest quality of leather for bags and accessories.  Our specialty is the natural vachetta leather which is a very sophisticated and delicate process to carry out the genuine controllable patina effect.  

Relationship with clients is one of the key factors of permanent success in leather business. Taking that into account we are forging long lasting customer relations for many years. Not only for the sales, we are also working together in R&D projects to develop our products in the direction of our clients.

  We export 80 % of our production and our current customer network includes; Europe, United States and Asia. We aim to expand our current share in the existing markets and we believe there is a large potential to be explored in far east markets as well.

We participate in all related leather exhibitions & fairs held all over the World like Le Cuir Paris, APLF Hong Kong, Lineapelle Milano, Futurmoda Spain, Lineapelle Newyork.

 As a necessity of environmental responsibility, all tanneries must have appropiate facilities to reduce their impact on environment. Sepiciler have pioneered the environmental activities in Turkish Leather Industry so it became an example for all other tanneries in our country.

Sepiciler had started the Turkey’s first tannery wastewater treatment plant in 1984. It has a 1000 cubic meters per day capacity. It consists of physical, chemical and biological activated sludge treatment units. It is operational 24 hours a day and being monitored periodically for the discharge standards.

 Sepiciler had started the first fleshing waste recovery plant in 2004 which processes the wastes and separates the wastes into solid, tallow and water fractions. Tallow is used in tanning process and the solid phase is used as an admixture in compost. This award winning plant has been an exemplary project so  we helped other organized leather regions to adopt this technology .

                Sepiciler has taken the audit for Leather Working Group Environmental Stewardship Program and become the first Tannery in Turkey to be a member of the group. The benefits of the auditing system and membership enables the company to assess its environmental performance in terms of water, energy, waste, health & safety, chemicals and ethics. 

Member companies are certified by the group for environmental responsibility and product dependability. This certification is recognized worldwide by leather industry and most brands. Majority of our customers request this membership from their supplier so they can ensure that the raw material is sourced from an environmental friendly tannery.
